The Masciantonio Family of Trappéto di Caprafico

At MaxVOO, we believe that the story behind every bottle of olive oil enriches its flavor. That's why we're proud to share the heritage of the Masciantonio family, whose dedication to olive cultivation has spanned over five generations.

A Legacy Rooted in Tradition

The Masciantonio Family's journey with olives began in 1874 in the picturesque town of Casoli, nestled at the foot of Mount Maiella in Italy's Abruzzo region. In 1924, Paolo Masciantonio purchased the estate now known as Trappeto di Caprafico, marking a pivotal moment in the family's olive-growing history. By 1948, they established their own olive mill, embracing innovation while honoring tradition.

Cultivating Excellence

Today, under the stewardship of Tommaso Masciantonio, the estate boasts over 5,000 olive trees, many of which are centuries old. The family cultivates native varieties such as Gentile di Chieti and Intosso, the latter being a Slow Food Presidium cultivar unique to the Casoli area. These olives thrive in the region's calcareous soil and temperate climate, contributing to the exceptional quality of their extra virgin olive oil.

Award-Winning Craftsmanship

Trappeto di Caprafico's commitment to quality has garnered international acclaim. Their oils have received prestigious awards, including the Best Intensely Fruity, Single Varietal Oil by Gambero Rosso and the silver award for organic oils at the Sol d'Oro Nord competition.

A Family's Dedication

For the Masciantonio Family, olive cultivation is more than a profession—it's a passion passed down through generations. Tommaso, alongside his wife Agnese and daughters Chiara and Alice, continues to uphold the family's legacy. They live in the restored historic farmhouse, the "Casino Masciantonio," overlooking their olive groves and vineyards, embodying a deep connection to the land and their craft.
